10:00 AM - 10:50 AMWilmette Community Recreation CenterWe will review three stories by Mark Nepo, from his book, More Together Than Alone.
Nepo is a spiritual teacher and author of more than twenty books, who explores the power of community, and why he thinks community is so necessary in our lives. His book is a roadmap for those seeking a sense of connection and hope in turbulent times. He believes a strong sense of togetherness will help us achieve our highest potential as individuals, and as communities.
After reading the three stories, here are the questions we would like to discuss with you:
1) How would you describe an ancestor you admire in the lineage of kindness? How can you practice kindness in one small way, individually or as part of a group?
2) Describe a moment of community you have witnessed or experienced in which difficulties, hardship, or suffering have led people to work together for the common good. Can we translate that into something we can do at Sukkat Shalom?
3) Tell a story of a time when you felt disconnected from the rest of life, and a time when you felt knit into the fabric of the universe? Describe a way your immediate community feels disconnected and how can you act on restoring that connection?
Looking forward to having you join us with your ideas about community.
Please come and share your thoughts!
