We find ourselves in uncharted waters. It is far too early to know the long term impact of this Coronavirus pandemic. We pray for the health and wellbeing of all of you, your families, and dear ones. At Sukkat Shalom we are taking every precautionary action. We are saddened by having to cancel so many of our programs, but we also know that “social distancing” is one of the most effective responses to this health crisis.

We recognize, however, that social distance has a cost. We are a sacred community, and our contact with and support of each other have always been a key mission of our extended family. We very much fear that some members of our congregation will suffer from social isolation, therefore we want to provide pastoral support to all of our members.

Tomorrow evening, we will be offering a short Kabbalat Shabbat service both by e-mail attachment and on our Facebook page so that you can share in the beauty of Shabbat at home. We also want to reach out to any of our home-bound members who may need any help with food, tech support, or just a friendly voice. If you would like to help by volunteering to make a call or more, please let us know. If you need to hear a friendly voice, do not hesitate to be in touch.

We are a caring community, and we do not want to feel any separation or isolation from each other. We always love to see you and greet you personally, but in these unique times, this is not possible. Nonetheless, we wish to do everything possible to close the gaps between us that are imposed by the necessary concerns for our community’s health. Please remember to reach-out to us if there is any way we can be of support.

May this week’s Shabbat provide you with comfort and peace. May the One who has blessed our ancestors, bless each of us, and those we love, with health of body and spirit.

Shabbat Shalom,
