Ambassador, Rabbi David Sapirstein was designated by Newsweek as the "most influential rabbi in America." For 40 years, he served as Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, representing the Reform Jewish Movement to Congress and the Administration.
Rabbi Saperstein was President Obama's United States Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom, the country’s chief diplomat on religious freedom issues. In 2019-20, Rabbi Saperstein served as the President of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, the international arm of the Reform Jewish Movement.
Also an attorney, he taught seminars on Church–State law and on comparative Jewish and American Law at Georgetown University. His work has been recognized with numerous national organizational awards and honorary doctorates and his articles have been published in publications ranging from the New York Times and the Washington Post to the Harvard Law Review.
