Sukkat Shalom is pleased to welcome American Israeli liturgist, poet, author, and educator, Alden Solovy, for an evening of discussion and teaching. We will hear from Unetaneh Tokef, a four-part masterpiece echoing the central themes of the High Holidays. We will examine this liturgical poem -- the inspiration for Leonard Cohen’s song ‘Who by Fire’ – as a study in contrasts, with a core theme and a surprisingly subversive poetic subtext. We’ll also hear readings from Alden Solovy’s latest book, Enter These Gates: Meditations for the Days of Awe.
