A dynamic series of lectures and discussions on the history and mystery of clash, culture, and coexistence among Muslims and Jews in Northern Africa. The series touches on Jewish life from 70 C.E., through 1492, and on to contemporary times as Jews arrived, struggled, flourished and sustained an existence in this colorful crossroads.

January 15, “Ancient History of North Africa,” led by Professor Patty Gerstenblith, Distinguished Research Professor at DePaul University College of Law.

January 22, “Jewish, Christian and Muslim Encounters before 1492,” led by guest scholar Professor Abigail Balbale, Assistant Professor, Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies, New York University.
