Jan Nedvetsky Cello Concert

Please join us on November 10th for a special benefit concert by cellist and Sukkat Shalom congregant Jan Vargas Nedvetsky. Jan is raising money for the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS), an organization that provides humanitarian aid and assistance to Jewish refugees. Accompanied by violinist Esme Arias Kim and pianist Milana Pavchinskaya, they are performing works by Bach, Vivaldi, and Tchaikovsky.

Jan is a Merit Scholarship Fellow at the Academy of the Music Institute of Chicago, an advanced training center for pre-college musicians, where he studies cello performance with Horacio Contreras, and piano and composition with Matthew Hagle. Jan has performed in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Masterclass; was featured in the ABC 7 TV program Amazing Kids; and, as part of his piano trio, was the youngest winner of Barnett Chamber Music Competition.

Esme Arias-Kim, 13, is a Merit Scholarship Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago's Academy, and studies violin with Almita Vamos. She made her solo orchestral debut at the age of 10 with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago after winning the DePaul Concerto Competition.

Milana Pavchinskaya is a well-known concert pianist, teacher, and experienced vocal and instrumental accompanist. Milana is a graduate of Stolarsky Special Music School in Odessa, Ukraine and Gnessin Institute of Music in Moscow. Upon arrival to Chicago, Milana received Masters of Piano Performance and Music Pedagogy degrees from the Northwestern University Bienen School of Music, where she was the recipient of the Hoverson Piano Award in honor of Pauline Lindsly for musical and academic excellence.
